This method allows for unparalleled precision and depth, characteristics highly sought after by discerning New York businesses aiming to make an indelible impression.

Etching is a traditional intaglio printmaking technique that involves the use of acid or mordant to cut into the unprotected parts of a metal surface to create a design in intaglio (incised) in the metal. In this process, a metal plate, typically copper, zinc, or steel, is coated with an acid-resistant ground or resin and then drawn upon with an etching needle to expose the metal beneath. The plate is then submerged in an acid bath that eats away at the exposed lines, creating grooves. After cleaning off the resist, ink is applied to the plate and wiped clean from its surface but retained in the etched grooves. A high-pressure printing press transfers the ink from the recesses onto paper, resulting in a finished print.
